This amulet is a reproduction of a Urnes style rune stone, which was presumably erected by Swedish Vikings in Uppland. The Urnes style was the last style of Viking art around 1100 AD. Rune stones were build as memorial stones or for transmitting messages and heroic deeds. They provided  an insight into the self-conception, values and achievements of important persons.
